Ruth Lyne Creative Glass

I have always been intrigued by the natural colours and textures of the sea shore, by the movement of the waves and the ripples left in the sand; by the wide horizons and the surface of the cliffs. Glass allows me to use layers of colour and texture to create an abstract image inspired by these memories.

I am very interested in the visual language used in abstract painting and place vertical and horizontal elements to try to instil a sense of calm and balance in the image. I originally used a simple palette of aqua, silver, black and white but I have recently added areas of red and orange to explore how they change the work. I have also started using circles to create an idea of contained movement within the design.

I don’t try to replicate the natural world but to create images that evoke a range of feelings and memories in the viewer and in me.
