Kate Turner is a designer and maker of kiln formed glass. Kate graduated from Wolverhampton University, gaining a 1st class BA (Hons) in Applied Art specialising in glass. Kate worked in recruitment for 9 years before swapping the commercial world for the creative arena. Kate’s work is inspired by human interactions with objects. Her work explores the impressions made by human touch and finds inspiration in capturing snap s
hots of these moments.
Glass captivates Kate and she is intrigued by the many different ways in which it can be manipulated, shaping hot glass or by making moulds which direct the glass into any given shape or by slowly softening the glass in a kiln, this allows Kate to produce a wide range of final effects.
Kate is just completing a 3 month placement at Wolverhampton University as part of her award from Keith Cummings for Kiln Forming Excellence. She has also received funding to start her
business in glass sculpture
